cj1404 loves iTV

Hello All;

Internet TV is good way to see shows that would require Sat. or Cable if you don't have DSL, and gives fair quality.

These are a few of the Internet TV (iTV) sites that exist:

In2Streams.com/, formerly Streamwired.com, introductory price of $9.99 for your first month. No downloads or stream ripping allowed. This is a PAY relay site. They have links to sites that stream the TV shows. This is common for many TV sites.

hvstv.com Packages start at $6.99 per month, no downloads or stream ripping allowed. This is a PAY relay site.

tv-irc.net/ Downloading requires mIRC from http://www.mirc.com.

http://alluc.org This is a FREE relay site. They have links to sites that stream the TV shows.

These have been shutdown by the MPAA:

Tamal.tv (one of the few that allowed downloads and stream ripping)
ess.tv
myIBNet.com

Message from TamalTV:

A couple of days ago, somebody sent me a heads up stating that ESS.TV was going to close its service for good. Anybody know why? any ess.tv users here that still have access to their board? (seems its closed to new registrations so I cant read the news posting).

My guess is that that the MPAA got to them, which is a shame. And on that note, as you might imagine, TamalTV is not registered with the MPAA or any organization/company for that matter, We only survive on the donations made by our fans and users and We make no money out of it, this dosn't make TamalTV legit but it does fall under certain guidelines of the law which states that cannot rebroadcast any shows without permission or copyrights in order to profit from it. Since We are not making any profit from it, maybe We are safe for a while :)

TamalTV has been on the air for quite a while now due to the fact that We are a small community, mostly friends :) that have discovered us and joined our little club :). TamalTV flies under the radar because We do not advertise ourselves or pay any kind of fees to put up ads and whatnot and We want to keep it that way so We can continue offering our service to our friends.

having said this.... We come to the second part of my post.

Today, TamalTV got a massive amount of people registering as new users. Which makes me wonder, where they come from? is it because ess.tv is gone? did somebody post an ad for TamalTV? are we alone in the universe does God exist?.... damn... its 2am... Im starting to trip :) but anyway... I do want to know where our new users come from.....

This was posted by a former ESS.TV subscriber:

I'll try to fill in what I know, without actually posting the letter that was sent to subscribers, being one of the former ess.tv subs. Also, craftytv shut down this past weekend and is telling all their subs to check you out, so that may be what is driving it.

According to ess, they are facing increased pressures from various organizations. No other information is known, but I am guessing it is the MPAA. Also, I should note that I was a subscriber to streamwired, formerly IBN, who also this month removed 45 streams by the request of Warner Brothers, or something of that nature. It should be noted that in both cases the servers were located here in the US, whereas it appears you are located in Mexico. This means you might be OK, but maybe not.

According to the MPAA's email to SW, they were also investigating crafty, ess, and Tamal.tv. In the case of crafty and ess, complying with that would have resulted in over half of the content removed, whereas with streamwired, only 45 of 184 streams were removed.

I hope this helps, and I also hope that you can weather the storm unharmed, but all three of these combined has probably resulted in quite a spike in traffic. I got a 2 day trial, but will upgrade to a month if tamal is going to stick around, but I know it's tough to know from day to day if your going to get a notice.

Final Note:

Looks like the corporate borg will not let us have a break. The quality is poor by their standards and that is still not enough to get them to leave us be. The Internet rebroadcasters are working within the law as they are not making money by selling ads or the service. The shows have been captured from the air and the commericals removed. The corportations are going too far and are the bigest criminals in the country (most anyway). Buy nothing is the only way to get back at them. Are you strong enough to just say no to spending?
